Expected-Awe

The life of a Kingdom citizen is a filled with with tensions. One that is seldom addressed is what I refer to as the importance of living life with expected-awe.

If God is transcendent over His universe, including the laws of nature, then His ability to do the unexpected should be expected. We should live life with this expectation.

It is wonderfully amazing to watch our Father work at just the right moment in just the right way. Timely words spoken by a brother or sister here. A verse of Scripture shared there. A unique situational occurrence that could not have been scripted. These are the matters we should expect if God is at work. We should not be surprised when His hand brings about the impossible. We should not be shocked. To expect anything less would be to walk by sight.

He is able to do far more than we can even think (Eph 3:20). No need to be surprised.

And yet, while we should not be surprised at the work of our Father, we should walk in awe of Him and His activity.

The lack of shock to our system is a matter of faith (Mark 4:40-41). The awe that exudes from our hearts when He acts according to His character is a matter of worship, reverence, humility, gratitude, and fear.

Walk today in expected-awe. This will bring much peace and joy to your life.
