What if gaming was a way for them to connect with other women in Saudi Arabia? Maybe this is more likely than we think.

You need to read this NPR article and listen to the 4 minute story about a gaming convention. It gives you a side of Saudi Arabia that few know about.

According to the article:

In a closed society, it is striking to see an event that encourages such open self-expression. Some women come dressed as their favorite game characters. The costumes are creative and elaborate, with silver wings, helmets and wigs of platinum cartoon hair. It’s a stunning transformation from the traditional all-black cover-ups that Saudi women must wear.

Maybe there is more to video games than we have considered.
