6 Conversations on Kingdom Innovation: FREE Events for You

Lord willing, on May 22, Jon Hirst and I will be kicking off 6 Conversations on Kingdom Innovation and we want you to participate. These live web events are FREE, but you have to register. Jon serves as the Director of Program Innovation with SIL International–for those unfamiliar with him.

Several months ago, we started talking about the lack of conversations and actions in the Church related to innovation and Kingdom matters. Our desire is to help change this reality. 6 Conversations is part of that process.

Interest in Kingdom innovation is slowly growing. Last month, we spoke during the second annual, Innovation in Mission webinar on “Getting Innovation Done.” The event was well attended with 160 registrants from 30 countries. If you missed it, you may watch the video HERE. At the conclusion of that event, Jon announced the “6 Conversations on Kingdom Innovation” meetings.

I repeat: While the Church has been involved in Spirit-led innovation since the first century, interest in innovation is only slowly growing among North American evangelicals.

For example, four years ago, I wrote To the Edge: Reflections on Kingdom Leadership, Mission, and Innovation as a way to contribute to the innovation conversation. I was very surprised at the lack of interest in this work. However, of the eight or nine of you who did purchase a copy, your feedback has been great. 🙂

A great irony exists: many leaders are asking innovation-related questions (e.g., How do I lead my church or agency through change?) but doing little about it. Questions are being asked, guidance is being offered, few people are courageous enough to do something about their concerns.

Jon has been addressing the topic of Kingdom innovation for years. He co-authored the book Innovation in Mission and co-founded the site Generous Mind. And he frequently addresses this topic in his speaking engagements and writings.

In response to the lack of attention Kingdom innovation is receiving, we decided to have 6 different conversations on 6 different dates. Our first topic is “Innovation and the Bible: Getting the Conversation Started.” During each conversation, we will spend time addressing the topic at hand and then allow several minutes for questions and comments.

I do hope you will join us. Again, the event is free, but you have to register HERE.

6 Conversations Innovation tip: Have your church’s or agency’s team participate together. Following the event, take several minutes to discuss how you may apply some of the points to your ministry. Use the event to get conversations started in your context.
