The Hiatus of Hiatuses 2

I have never officially taken time off from blogging and social media. But that is about to change, big time.

Twelve years ago I entered the world of social media and simultaneously launched Missiologically Thinking. Strike the Match turns seven years old this month. And, though twelve years ago I posted a few YouTube videos, it was two years ago I stared experimenting with my channel.

Prior to these resources, I hosted the podcast North American Missions and the corresponding gateway, articles, and book review site NorthAmericanMissions.org.

Wow! That was a long time ago. Through it all, I wanted to provide beneficial resources to you for the “multiplication of disciples, leaders, and churches”–the tagline of this blog.

While I plan to continue blogging at this site, hosting Strike the Match, and posting videos at YouTube, I am pressing pause for an extended period of time. This is something I have never done before to this degree.

I plan to sign-off March 31 and do not plan to post anything new until August. Yes, this includes posts on my Twitter, FB, LinkedIn, and IG accounts…. Okay, I may post a pic or two of the family summer vacation on IG. We’ll see.

You may ask what will I be doing for those months without social media, blogging, etc. Well, there are a couple of months left in the semester at Samford and Beeson. I’ll be teaching a Ph.D. seminar for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in June. I have speaking engagements planned and will be working on my next book. Understanding Evangelism (tentative title) is under contract with Baker Academic and will be a comprehensive textbook on the topic. I will also be getting rest, spending time with family, continuing to care for my mother’s estate, and getting ready for fall classes.

Of course, I will be available for interviews, and still have a few remaining dates available this fall for possible speaking engagements. If you need me, please reach out through my university email — jd.payne@samford.edu, as I will likely miss any DMs on social media after March 31.

There is still much to do before the end of the month. I will be writing here at the blog. I also plan to post two or three videos at YT and release a couple of podcasts to conclude this season. Next season, several episodes of Strike the Match are already committed to mission theology. I am looking forward to those!

I am not going away, just taking some time away from the usual.

If you have not had a chance to read Apostolic Imagination or Theology of Mission that were published last month, now would be a great time to read them. . . and post reviews at Amazon. I would appreciate that! Shoot me an email; I would love to hear from you regarding these books.

And with thirteen other books, nearly 100 episodes of Strike the Match, 900 blog posts, and 29 videos at YT, I am certain there is plenty of Payne material out there for you to discover before August.
