100 Least-Reached US Counties
Today, I continue the series related to my evangelical concentrations study.
In addition to the least-reached metro areas, we wanted to know the locations of the least-reached US counties. While the metros were filtered with a ≤5% statistic, the counties were limited to those of ≤3% evangelical. One hundred counties may be identified by this metric.
The above map highlights these locations. Click HERE for the interactive map that provides the county names, populations, evangelical percentages, foreign-born populations, and church to population ratios (click on the County tab at the bottom left of the map).
Some of the counties have small populations. However, such is not true for all of them.
The above table shows the 10 counties with the lowest evangelical church-to-population ratios. Half are located in Utah, two in Idaho, and the remaining three in Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.
Utah County has the lowest ratio of all US counties at 1:18,300, with Madison County, Idaho being a close second at 1:17,600.
The US is home to over 3100 counties. The least-reached counties are not everywhere. According to the data, these make the top 100. They should receive a prioritization in church prayer, ministry, and multiplication strategies.
But will they?
