Apostolic Imagination – Apostles and Apostolic Function 2

How many apostles are in the Bible? Twelve? Twelve plus Paul? More than that? What about Jesus “the apostle and high priest?” Did apostles cease to exist after the first century or remain today? In this episode, I continue with The Apostolic Imagination series addressing fixed and fluid categories of apostles found in the Scriptures. In addition to this, I discuss the primary functions of apostles and the need to expect these expressions for our primary global disciple making labors.

JD: Thanks for this presentation. My observation is to suggest that each of your five functions seem to relate nicely with the 5-fold, APEST gives of Eph 4! Way to go!

On another topic–read your The Barnabas Factor book last year and enjoyed it immensely since Barney has been my patron saint since 1975–when I discovered him for the first time in grad school. I have just completed a personal study paper on “The Role of Barnabas in the Book of Acts,” that finally synthesizes most of what I’ve learned from others over 40 years on the gift and art and encouragement for crosscultural ministry.
May I send you a copy to peruse? Hopefully, it might have some insights on the incredible significance and impact Barnabas had on the first century church. One of my key sources, a Dallas Theo Sem doctoral student-pastor named Murphy, was most helpful and the most detailed and in-depth study I had ever found.
    Keep up the good work.

    Steve,

Thank you for the kind words. I greatly appreciate that. You gave me some good things to consider regarding APEST.

I would be delighted to receive a copy of your paper on Barnabas.
